The Dougherty County Local Emergency
Planning Committee (LEPC), composed of industry, business
and community emergency response groups and concerned
citizens, is working to improve the awareness level of
people in the community to potential chemical hazards and
appropriate emergency measures. The LEPC also works to
improve the community's capability to pre-plan for an
emergency involving hazardous materials.
The Dougherty County LEPC was established in March 1995,
under charter from the Dougherty County Commission and the
Georgia State Emergency Response Commission (SERC).
The LEPC works closely with the Emergency Management Office
to maintaining a Community Emergency Response Plan and to
conducting training exercises to practice and evaluate the
plan.
